It’s Mangrove Awareness Month – celebrated on July 26th, and we’re here to shed some light on these incredible ecosystems that are vital to our planet’s health.
Did you know that mangroves play a crucial role in mitigating climate change and preserving biodiversity? It’s time to give them the recognition they deserve!
Our nature’s Superheroes
Mangroves act as nature’s superheroes, protecting our coastlines from erosion, storms, and even tsunamis. They safeguard our communities and marine life. By absorbing carbon dioxide, these remarkable plants also combat climate change, helping us breathe cleaner air.
Introducing our Social Plastic® Nassau chair, crafted with love and dedication to the environment. We’ve taken a step towards sustainability by using recycled plastic in the production of these chairs.
By opting for recycled plastic, we reduce the demand for new plastic production, minimizing the amount that ends up in our oceans and harming marine life. It’s a small step towards creating a circular economy, where resources are reused, and plastics aren’t left in landfills or places of natural beauty.
The natural habitat of multiple unique animals
One of the ocean’s most fascinating animals, the manatee, is under threat. One of their favorite habitats is being polluted, and we are on a mission to prevent it.
Manatees set up their homes in these magnificent mangroves, as it provides them with food, shelter, and a quiet, beautiful place to raise their young! Baby manatees deserve a place to live! Climate change is one of the biggest factors affecting the mangroves that reside on our planet. These beautiful ecosystems defend our coastlines, clean our air, and provide homes to wildlife like the manatee and many other animals!
Moreover, mangroves are the much-needed bridge between our oceans and land. As they are unique they offer homes, feeding grounds to equally unique animals both large and small.
Tigers, Galápagos penguins and Proboscis Monkey’s, all these animals are either endangered or highly endangered due to habitat loss and degradation. One major threat to these incredible creatures is the pollution caused by plastic waste, which finds its way into their habitats and endangers their lives.
How we could help
Our pledge is to remove discarded plastics from the environment before they end up in places like mangroves, beaches, or landfills. Social Plastic® is all about reusing these discarded plastics to help towards a circular economy, keeping plastics out of our environment. We then use these discarded plastics to make our chairs. So you can be sitting comfortably, knowing that you’re not contributing to the use of single-use plastics.
Let’s join hands and raise awareness about the importance of recycling and repurposing plastics to safeguard our precious wildlife. By sharing this message and spreading the word, we can inspire others to take action and make a difference.
Remember, even the smallest steps can lead to significant change. Together, let’s create a sustainable future for our endangered animals and their fragile habitats.
